Intro to Somatic Education: Unlocking the Wisdom of Your Body

Your body holds profound wisdom, and this workshop is an invitation to explore it. In Intro to Somatic Education, we shift the focus from external solutions to the innate intelligence within. Through body-based education and practices, you’ll cultivate Somatic Awareness, deepening your connection to your sensations, emotions, and both your inner and outer voice.

This workshop takes a bottom-up approach, prioritizing the body-mind connection rather than the traditional mind-over-body perspective. Somatic healing recognizes that emotions and experiences are stored within the body, not just the mind. By exploring empowered choice and voice, mindful movement, sensory awareness, and embodied exercises, you can release stored tension, navigate stress, find your voice and foster resilience.

Together, we will explore:

Embodied Communication Workshop

Somatic Language Workshop

We often encounter the subtle, yet profound influence of trauma stored in the body. This workshop is designed to guide practitioners in using language that respects the nervous system, encourages embodied experience, and facilitates safe-enough spaces for students to explore sensations and healing.

Trauma, often a response to experiences that are "too much, too fast, or too soon," can resurface during physical practice, especially in areas like the hips, which are deeply tied to emotional storage. Our approach to language in these moments becomes crucial. Instead of using phrases like "let it go" or "release," which can encourage bypassing, we will explore how to foster an environment where students and clients feel empowered to be with their sensations, metabolizing experiences as they arise.

In this workshop, we will cover:

  • Understanding Somatic Language: Learn how language impacts the body's ability to communicate and self-regulate.

  • Window of Tolerance: A framework for helping students identify and expand their comfort zones for handling discomfort.

Nervous System Alignment Workshop

Techniques for Balance and Resilience

Discover how to regulate and balance your nervous system through chiropractic care and somatic practices in this in-depth workshop led by chiropractor Dr. Kaitie and somatic educator Meredith.

Chiropractic Realignment & Nervous System Regulation: Dr. Kaitie will explain how realigning the spine through chiropractic adjustments can restore nervous system function by removing pressure from spinal nerves. By improving spinal alignment, the body can shift from a "fight or flight" state to a more balanced, parasympathetic state. She will also present the spinal nerve chart, demonstrating how different areas of the spine are connected to various organs and body systems, showing why misalignment can lead to dysfunction throughout the body. In addition, Dr. Kaitie will introduce the heart rate variability (HRV) test, a key tool that measures the flexibility of the nervous system and its ability to respond to stress, revealing important insights about nervous system health.

Understanding the Nervous System, Window of Tolerance, and PORTALS: Meredith will take you on a journey through how the nervous system is formed and how it operates, in determining states of safety, danger, and overwhelm. You’ll learn about the window of tolerance, which describes the optimal zone where we can handle stress and challenges with emotional regulation. Techniques for expanding this window will be covered, helping participants build resilience against stress. In addition, Meredith will introduce the PORTALS, somatic and energetic pathways that provide access to deeper self-regulation. These PORTALS represent various techniques and practices (such as breathwork, grounding exercises, sensory awareness, and mindful movement) that allow the body to shift between different nervous system states, promoting relaxation, focus, and a return to safety.

By the end of this workshop, you will have a deeper understanding of how your nervous system functions, how to regulate it through practical tools, and how to integrate these techniques into your daily life. Pelvic Floor I Workshop

Social Media is inundated with "Tips to Strengthen your Pelvic Floor" when in reality we need to focus on the Flexibility and Fluidity of our Pelvic Floor Muscles. In the Pelvic Floor 1 workshop we will begin to explore how to Somatically connect with our Pelvic Floor. Focusing on Relaxing and Releasing these vital muscles. I will talk about Pelvic Floor Anatomy and bring awareness to the Foot - Pelvis Connection. You will learn creative ways to release your Pelvic Floor muscles with a tennis ball and spiky massage ball. We will talk about different techniques to increase the blood flow to our PF with the help of a Pilates ball. At the end, you may feel physically grounded to the Earth in a way you might not have felt before. As with any hip and/or pelvic work, this class could stir up deep rooted emotions that will be welcome with open arms and literally an open pelvis.

Pelvic Floor II Workshop

In the Pelvic Floor 2 Workshop we will continue building the bridge between our conscious and unconscious pelvic sensations and reactions. I will talk about PF functions and what the causes are for PF dis-functions. The focus will be on the jaw - pelvis connection, an important connection that began in our mother's womb. I will share techniques that encourage a release in both the Pelvic Floor and Jaw. We will continue to learn how to cultivate our individual Somatic Awareness, which begins in our Pelvis. Our bodies are full of wisdom that has much to tell us, we just aren't taught how to listen. My hope is to share knowledge on how to take our deep listening skills internally to hear what our Pelvic Floor has to say.
